Our story

Born from Northland soil.

We started with one oven and one promise — to show up for our community every single morning. From that first 4am bake in Ruakaka, we've grown into bakeries, cafés and a full catering operation across Northland.

Everything is made from scratch using fresh, local and seasonal ingredients wherever possible. We work with Northland growers, farmers and producers we trust — and when we can, we shout about them too.

Four locations. One community. We know the farmers who grow our wheat and we know your name when you walk through the door.

Ruakaka Full time

Lead our production team and own the pie programme — our signature product. You'll oversee our full baked range including pies, breads and cabinet items, holding the standard across every batch, every day.

What we're looking for
  • 3+ years of professional baking experience
  • Proven experience with high-volume pie and pastry production
  • Ability to lead and train a small team under time pressure
  • We prefer candidates with baking leadership experience, but we're happy to train someone with the right attitude and drive.

Ruakaka Mangawhai Full time

Join our early-morning bake team producing our full range of pies, breads and savouries from scratch. You'll work across mixing, shaping, baking and finishing to get everything into the cabinet fresh.

What we're looking for
  • Previous bakery or kitchen experience preferred
  • Comfortable with early starts, from around 4am
  • Good pace and attention to detail under pressure
  • Bakery experience is preferred, but we're happy to train a hard worker with the right attitude.

Pastry Chef

Waipu Ruakaka Full time / Part time

Bring precision and creativity to our sweet cabinet — cakes, slices, tarts and seasonal specials. You'll balance daily production with new ideas that keep our cabinet exciting.

What we're looking for
  • Formal pastry qualification or equivalent experience
  • Strong technical skills across laminated doughs, creams and fillings
  • An eye for presentation and consistency
  • Pastry experience is preferred, but we're happy to train someone with real passion and the right attitude.

Marsden Cove Part time

Handle cake production for our Marsden Cove cabinet and custom orders — from everyday slices to celebration cakes. A hands-on role with room to put your own stamp on the range.

What we're looking for
  • Experience baking and decorating cakes
  • Comfortable working to orders and deadlines
  • Great attention to detail and finish
  • Cake decorating experience is preferred, but we're happy to train someone with a creative eye and the right attitude.

Waipu Full time

Run the kitchen at our Waipu café — from menu development to daily service — leading a small team to deliver food that matches our scratch-made standard.

What we're looking for
  • Proven head chef or senior sous chef experience
  • Strong leadership and kitchen management skills
  • A passion for fresh, local and seasonal ingredients
  • Head chef experience is preferred, but we're open to a strong sous chef ready to step up with the right attitude.

Set the coffee standard across Country Bake — training our barista team, dialling in machines, and making sure every cup is consistent, whichever site it's poured at.

What we're looking for
  • 2+ years barista experience, ideally in a lead or trainer role
  • Strong knowledge of espresso extraction and milk texturing
  • Confidence coaching and supporting a team
  • Friendly, customer-first attitude
  • Barista leadership experience is preferred, but we're happy to train a confident coffee-lover with the right attitude.
